I'm pretty sure the 1980s was the best decade for movies ever, although as a child of the 80s, I might be biased.

No matter the genre, there were amazing and epic movies that have stood the test of time and are still awesome today.

The stand-outs in the 1980s were the manay comedy movies and some epic action and adventure movies.

Here's a selection of my favourites, most of which need no introduction, but some might be controversial.

• Back to the Future (1985)
• Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
• Big (1988)
• The Blues Brothers (1980)
• My Bodyguard (1980)

• The 'Burbs (1989)
• The Cannonball Run (1981)
• Caddieshack (1980)

• The Gods Must be Crazy (1980)

• Romancing the Stone (1984)
• Roxanne (1987)
• Sixteen Candles (1984)
• Space Balls (1987)
• Stand By Me (1986)
• The Terminator (1984)
• The Three Amigos (1986)
• Trading Places (1983)

All of those movies are worthy of watching if you've never seen them. I'm sure I missed lots too.

In my opinion, movies started going downhill after the new millennium.

I've previously said the 1980s was the best decade for movies, but the surrounding decades were also pretty awesome.
