I've previously said the 1980s was the best decade for movies, but the surrounding decades were also pretty awesome.

In this post, I will share my stand-outs from the 1970s.

For me, the 1970s was mostly about action and adventure movies. It was also the decade for disaster movies with everything from building fires, airport dramas, capsized ships, shark attacks, deadly viruses and nuclear power plant near-disasters.

• The Andromeda Strain (1971)
• Blazing Saddles (1974)
• Capricorn One (1977)
• China Syndrome (1979)
• Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
• Dirty Harry (1971), Magnum Force (1973) and The Enforcer (1976)
• Duel (1971)
• The Exorcist (1973)
• Get Carter (1971)
• Jaws (1975) and Jaws II (1978)
• Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)
• Logan's Run (1976)
• Mad Max (1979)
• The Omega Man (1971)
• The Omen (1976)
• Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975)
• Rocky (1976)
• Shoot (1976)
• Star Wars (1977) - (I refuse to call it Episode IV)
• Storm Boy (1976)
• Superman (1978)
• Three Days of the Condor (1975)
• Westworld (1973)
• Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971)

I'm pretty sure the 1980s was the best decade for movies ever, although as a child of the 80s, I might be biased.
