Were the 1990s the last of the great decades for movies?

I've said that the 1980s movies were the best but the surrounding decades - the 1970s and 1990s - were also great but in different ways.

In my opinion, movies started going downhill after the new millennium.

• Blair Witch Project (1999) - The first of it's kind... I have to admit I Googled whether it was a true story after watching it
• Cable Guy (1996) - one of my all-time favourites
• Contact (1997) - I didn't understand all of it, but it was still good

• Galaxy Quest (1999) - Another favourite
• The Game (1997)
• Ground Hog Day (1993)
